Increasing Social Media Engagement through the Email Channel
Have you ever looked at your Instagram newsfeed and wondered why you see outdated content?
For instance, why were you seeing Mother's Day posts from brands you follow the day after Mother's Day? At first, one might assume the business posted late. But when you look at the post and see it was posted 1 day ago, you realize the brand did indeed post on the correct date. Social media visibility is based on algorithms, and organic reach is getting harder.
Your email subscribers, on the other hand, are likely to be more engaged with your brand. After all, they provided you with direct contact information. You determine when the content should hit the inbox. You also know how they interacted with your email.
Is this to say email is better than social? No! However, it is to say that your email list is super valuable not only in growing a customer relationship with your brand but email can also be used to increase your brand's social media engagement.
We could provide a super long list of tips to help you increase your social media engagement through email marketing but let's start with three simple ones you can do right now:
Tip #1
Invite your subscribers to follow you on social or, better yet create a contest where they follow, like, and post content.
Tip #2
Remind your email subscribers how frequently you will post on social vs. email and encourage them to follow you to stay in the know. For example, we only send one newsletter a month, but we post on Instagram and Facebook 3 times a week.
Tip #3
Reach your subscribers on social media through paid social media. We build strategies for this, and the results are excellent! You can even do this on a small budget, so don't think you need to spend a ton on advertising.
